Maike Böcker studied Cultural Anthropology, Sociology and Pedagogy at the University of Göttingen. For her final thesis - an analysis about the formation of the conflict in Darfur - she used and refined ethnological analyses about war and peace.
Since 2009 Maike Böcker is an Associated Junior Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen. She is a PhD student in the project Memories of Diasters which is part of the larger research project Climate & Culture. Her research is focused on the cultural consequences and implications of Climate Change with special interest in the memory of disasters in Germany and the research about war and peace.
In addition, Maike Böcker has worked for several youth education programms on the subjects National Socialism, right-wing extremism and anti-Semitism.
