Gitte Cullmann

Gitte Cullmann (born in 1981) studied Sociology, Economics and Spanish Philology in Münster. Her research focused on politics of environment and development, international relations, and empirical social science. She graduated in 2006 about the measurement of poverty in Latin America by comparing different methods of measuring poverty in Bolivia, Ecuador and Chile.
She spent time abroad in Chile and Nicaragua with the European Latin-American Association.
Afterwards she worked in the economic department of the Embassy of Chile in Berlin. Since 2008 she is an Associate Junior Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities in Essen (KWI) and participates as a PhD candidate in the project Memories of Disasters which is part of the project Climate and Culture.

In her research she mainly emblazes climate change and human security, disaster and memory, vulnerabilities and adaptation. Her research area is Latin America with a special focus on Chile. Gitte lives in Berlin.
