Isabella Matauschek (1970) studied history, social sciences and German studies in Vienna, Copenhagen and Florence. MA 1995 University of Vienna, PhD 2002 European University Institute, Florence. She was a fellow at the Konstanzer Meisterklasse, University of Constance, Germany and a fellow at the School for Postgraduate Interdisciplinary Research on Interculturalism and Transnationality (SPIRIT), University of Aalborg, Denmark.
1999-2002 she worked as a researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Scandinavian Department of the University of Vienna and the Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford University. Since 2002 she has directed the research on Western Europe in the framework of the project “Traditions of Historical Consciousness” first at the University Witten Herdecke and since September 2004 as a fellow at the KWI affiliated with the CMR. Since November 2004 she is assistant professor at the Centre for Social and Intercultural Competence at the J. Kepler University Linz.
